"How do you take it all in? How do you see, feel, understand the impact of what's happening to an enormous portion of our planet, the bleak and oozing death of it all? How do you shrug it off?"
"Because if you're honest, no matter where you stand, no matter your politics, religion, income or mode of transport, you see this beast of creeping death and you understand: That is us. The spill may be many things, but more than anything else it is a giant, horrifying mirror."
i do think this oil spill should be read like a message from god. . . look at yourselves people. you're killing yourself and the enviroment. i mean if this isn't proof we as an entire race need to change our ways i don't know what the f*&% would do it.
and please god let there be another way than the rape of the land in afghanistan. please let there be another vision of what that country can be. . . please don't let western/american company's go in and destroy their land and their people with no conscious. we know better, please look after the people and the land in afghanistan. amen
i totally love it! kiko went out last night and i was mopping and listening to it on my ipod at 11 pm and was dancing and cried a little bit. i'm all about crying, you gotta cry. it was more of a happy cry, kiko tells me i'm a little crazy but aren't we all?! i had a great night. . .
i painted my toe nails. . . gave myself a mini-facial. . . dry brushed. . . cold shower. . . good lotion. . .
then i hung with my friend bethany. . . so happy for her!
then i watched work of art. thank you sjp, the people on the show showed me something about myself! tyler. . . if it gets picked up again i say you and me on the show! totally perfect story for reality TV. we'd learn so much and i wouldn't get mad if you kicked my butt and i got voted off (but i would have a goal to stay at least 5 episodes!) the boys will just have to figure it out for a couple weeks.
music is amazing it can change you day, lift your mood, HEAL you! anna of free play shared some music with me for new years and it really helped me through a hard time. i'm so grateful for her sharing and tyler sharing with me. it moved me for sure!
i think i get to go celebrate pride tonight with some friends of mine and looking forward to seeing them!
what these are what i need to try and do pre-design my mini quilt. these are prints from angry chicken and my stained glass window windows. i love anna's from freeplay
so i hemmed up these curtains. i bought them a long time ago and one was shorter than the other but i didn't realize it until long after the purchase. so i cut one shorter and added then left over fabric to the other and now they are the same length! they are keeping the hot afternoon sun out! the library has a book sale every year and i took today off of work since i'm sick so i decided to go. this was after the line had moved 1/2 way down the block. it was a mad house. i had time even and couldn't fight with book lovers for that long, but i got a few things. . . this was under maps. . . but it's kind of art, no map attached. it cost a bit more then the $1 for the sale but i had to get it! and i got kiko a couple of leonard cohen books and a few books for palmer (a dr. suess and richard scarry and a trash truck book) and a body psychotherapy book for me. i'm a total nerd. afternoon showers! i like how kiko looks like he has a halo an as a random end, i want these. . . just wanted to have a reminder for myself (and anyone who's planning ahead for my july 31st birthday :) hope you had a great day!
i'm feeling great urge to blog and do for some springy reason. . . even though i caught the bug my family had when i was in the NW i am now sick AGAIN for like the fifteenth time this year. . . but i will survive and be healthier. . .
missing the queen anne's lace freaking out about mini quilts. . . i am totally going to make one.
i'm thinking about biting bethany cosentino's (from best coast) heart tattoos on the inner arm. "palmer" & "pancho" it's not too visible but it's still tough kiko is having some superstition with me getting his name tattooed on me. like then we'd be forced to break up. kiko is a nick name for francisco an so is pancho. this picture is from bust magazine
you should also check out new dress a day (that was in bust too!)
one of our windows is getting covered with the ivy. there are 2 of these windows on either side of our fire place. it's made me think that it would be awesome to have these 2 windows be stained glass. . . i should work on designing them. . .
view of mt. hood from white salmon right down the road from my folks. . . ah, drink it in.
beautiful iris's growing all pretty colors in a row
hello sea, i've missed you. . .

calla lilies, just growing, with strawberries right beside. that doesn't really happen in colorado
met friend jane (calamity jane) at the fort george brewery in astoria and got to see pete krebs. they were awesome! they had some swing dancers there, really amazing!
from her studio western shirts. . . kiko got measured for one. this is vintage colorful colorado fabric. just a house i wouldn't mind in gearhart!
kiko has been talking about street food in portland for ever. they have rows and rows of vendors all over the place. many were closed for memorial day but we did get korean tacos, which were delish! i wanted to walk down to water front park to show palmer the water and boats and lo and behold, it was rose festival and the whole park was a carnival! loved the neon sign but right past here was the bar james used to always take me to when i would come visit! nice papst still life it was such a beautiful sunny day we lucked out!
we stumbled upon cargo in the pearl district. . . i coulda spent so much time and money in here but we had a hungry boy!
a while back i had a dream about a crow headed person. . . this was a store moule, i would have liked to check out. we did go to powell's. palmer sucking up the yummy food from typhoon! i liked this art nouveau design on a building downtown, 1894 our VERY awesome bed at the lucia hotel. it was great they had a service you could order a loaded ipod if you forgot yours. it was pretty swank voodoo doughnut. . . maple glazed with bacon. the old dirty bastard
