air outfit

so last year when we traveled palmer was wearing a t-shirt that said perfect.  i don't know if you're familiar with masaru emoto's work studying water crystals.  he's published lots of books about the messages from water.  in essence he puts labels on bottles of water and takes pictures of the crystals.

You can look the crystals up on his website but the water bottle that says you're beautiful is beautiful and the one that says you're dirty is not even a fully formed crystal.  it's the same over and over with other examples.  it's amazing.  in what the bleep do we know they hypothesized that because human bodies are made of so much h2o that words we say to ourselves (or others say to us) would make a difference in our bodies.

so i was going to put perfect on this onesy but peace fit better.  i might try and crank out another one tonight that says perfect because last year flying, palmer was perfect.  he slept the whole way and woke up once we got there.  i don't even know how to wrap my head around what perfect will mean with a toddler but hey, it's worth a shot!

things i'm loving

have i told you how much i love the savage love podcast.  i've always loved his column but i love his podcast.  i've been downloading the old ones he's so great.

i also love bacon baked in the oven sprinkled with brown sugar.  ugh. . . so delish.

oh and free rice.  i found that while looking for ways to study for the GRE.  it's pretty addicting.
i had a trying day but just keeping positive.  praying the weather allows my parents out of the northwest and us too!  man, i have been trying to remember what it was like when you were young and didn't even know about the crap going on in the world and how much work living can be.  don't get me wrong i love it, but it can be hard.

i got a flat tire today and suggest peerless tires.  they were so nice and cheaper than any other place by far.

duality

so nan told me about this documentary fall from grace, it's pretty sickning here's the over view:
For years, the Rev. Fred Phelps and his Westboro Baptist Church have preached a message of intolerance and hatred, aimed at homosexuals. This compelling documentary shines a spotlight on Phelps and his followers, widely condemned as a hate group. K. Ryan Jones's debut takes a hard look a church that claims that everything from the poor economy to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks can be tied to God's wrath over so-called sexual deviance.

now on the exact opposite note i listened to this american life's story about reverend carlton pearson called heretics.  a story about how  god spoke to him and he is now preaching about inclusion.  you should totally listen to it.  actually do both, watch the documentary about completely hateful people telling people "god hates you" and listen to reverend pearson saying man is creating hell on earth.

in the documentary someone said that this isn't a city's problem or a states problem or a country's problem.  this is a serious world wide problem.  i was looking on their web site (www.godhatesfags.com) and looking at their picketing schedule.  they picket soldiers who died in iraq's funerals.  they are going to picket miss. kansas beauty pagent.  they are of course going to picket obama's coronation and while in DC they are picketing many embassys including the UK, Kenya, Australia (they hate heath ledger), the vatican, france, canada, ireland, switzerland, israel, italy.  they say obama is the anti-christ.  their message is "GOD HATES YOU".  I am not kidding.

i feel called to do something about it.
to be honest i thought about killing that whole stupid evil family when watching that movie, but another pastor said that really just feeds their hate, when you give them hate right back.  i think i might just start sending them post cards with the hundreds of bible versus they are not paying attention to.

1 john 4:8
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

proverbs 17:9
Whoever forgives an offense seeks love, but whoever keeps bringing up the issue separates the closest of friends.

1 peter 4:8
Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

leviticus 19:17-18
Do not hate your brother in your heart. Rebuke your neighbor frankly so you will not share in his guilt.
Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.

luke 6:27
But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you

1 john 3:18
Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.

1 john 4:18
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

proverbs 10:12
Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers over all wrongs.

mark 12:31
The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'  There is no commandment greater than these."

you see where i'm going.  there are a many many  many versus talking about loving thy neighbor as themselves.  god is love.  jesus did not preach hate and it's scary.  they say they are the mouth of god.

rip bettie

a radiance, a mystery of personality, that transcends technique and passeth understanding. Bettie had a message that defined her medium, and a magic that defied it.

here i come hawaii

i ordered this swim suit online for hawaii!  pretty cute huh?  hope it fits!  i'm not quite comfortable with bikini's anymore. . . thanks for the stretch marks palmer!

school work

i'm writing a paper on Marjane Satrapi (here's an interview with her on npr) and her graphic novels persepolis.  i've been all about learning about iran and her books are beautiful and give us westerners a peek into the lives of an iranian family and we can realized all of our assumptions about iran are not as black and white as her illustrations.  (sound a little like my thesis)

i love love love this american life!  listen to the pod cast silly. . .

this weeks episode poultry jam was awesome. . .
loved act 2

Kathie Russo’s husband was Spalding Gray, who was best known for delivering monologues onstage—like "Monster in a Box," and "Swimming to Cambodia." On January 10, 2004, he went missing. Witnesses said they saw him on the Staten Island Ferry that night. Two months later, his body was pulled out of the East River. Kathie tells the story of the night he disappeared, and about how, in the weeks following, she and each of their three children were visited by a bird, who seemed to be delivering a message to them. (10 minutes)

i almost always cry. . .
