intersecting parallels
last night i had a divine meeting with the artist Brandon Maldanado.
his studio Intersecting Parallels is located at 3252 Pecos St in Denver.
my friend and i were going to try and grab dinner at a place near by and we parked across the street. we were walking by and his sign was out the the studio was open. so we decided to go in. right away i loved every thing, every where you looked there was something beautiful. i have never in my life had a reaction to a piece of art the way did with this:
sleeping with your ghost
i had been talking with my friend about how i needed to cry but couldn't. i took one look at this and the tears came. i've never had such an emotional reaction to a piece of art but i felt so blessed to be able to see it. it's amazing! all of his work is really beautiful and makes me FEEL in my head, heart and body. i think he's so amazing and it felt like i was meant to stumble in there and get shook up!
The Beholder
I literally can feel my third eye when i look at this, i just LOVE it!
Balance
Our Lady of Merciful Fate
Hope you enjoy his work as much as I do. . .

inspiring ladies
so since my one actively crafty buddy tyler moved across the country i've been wanting to meet some more crafty people. . . i've been trying to get friends to go to a denver handmade alliance meeting/get together with me. no one would so i decided to just go by myself last night. it was the meeting of the events committee. i am now going to help by marketing the next event CRAFTY BALLYHOO! here in denver. they are collaborating with the city's "create denver week". i already met some great ladies at the meeting and next tuesday is the member's meeting. i'm trying to get some of my buddies to attend too.
so i got home last night and started doing a day of the dead painting of a figurine i got at a thrift store a'la tattoo tales and my tv died. was it a sign we just need to kill our tv? hmmm. . . it was crazy i was painting (a mary none the less) maybe it was too sacreligious
i love my love for you is a stampede of horses. i want to repost every artist it's an amazing resource.
i found this Faust the other day while searching art nouveau pictures

charley harper
i had never really been aware of charley harper before but whole foods has this day timer:
i LOVE his pictures. i don't really need a day timer but want to buy this one anyway. . .
but should probably get these very cute cards. . . love love love
i think this is from the golden book, holy snap i want to find this golden book at a thrift store for 2 bucks! then sell it for $200! geez
his art is really inspiring to me. i love the simplicity of line, the bold colors and the emotion. it's such a talent to convey so much with so much simplicity. most people know that editing isn't easy, to be simple can take skill and practice! in all things.
tyler's post here discussed both simplicity and capitalism too, free market choice. i love the idea that you vote with every purchase you make (that was at the end of food inc.). it was a real syncronicity to be reminded to actually really think about and plan your purchase. quality not quantity. to buy things that actually add a benefit to your life. he who dies with the most toys does not win because you can't take that with you. having things in your life that increase your joy. greed isn't good but it's hard not to have a lot of very strong feelings associated with money, and it's really hard to look them in the face sometime because there are some pretty horrible feelings. FEAR. WORRY. ENVY.
that's a part of the new good life. i'm reading john robbin's book:
his story is very interesting, he was the heir to the baskin robbins company and he walked away from it. would you? could you? hmmm. . . he's got drive and courage and is very honest. i find him very inspiring too.
and watched this movie, michael moore can be dramatic but there is a lot of truth in this as well. it gives you some awareness and insight into where our country is now. when the bible says beware of wolves in sheep's clothing, i think it could be talking about guys in suits:

i got hundreds of dollars worth of books. i have almost my limit of 5o items checked out right now. a majority are for palmer. . .
i love the seasons book, the pictures are amazing.
i also got the cat's pajamas. the pictures are great in there too, haven't read the story yet.
i am also freaking out about digestive tune up by mcdougall
which i read about in the food revolution which is amazing by the way.
did you know (tyler) that animal protein is associated with decreased bone health? a study from 2010 with more than 750 girls, meat and eggs were found to weaken bones. you may want to check out thrive for your future training.
i also am going to partner with peaceful mountain for Whole Foods Wash Parks, grand re-opening on oct 23rd! i'm pretty excited i thought of the idea and i'll get to learn more about peaceful mountains great products!

east high
so kiko's doing his student teaching for east high school here in denver and i've always wanted to see the mural painted in the library. it was painted in 1934 by Hugh Weller as part of the Works Art Project in the depression. I wrote my final term paper (22 pages) on why we need a Arts project NOW. How amazing would it be to have the government pay for art. I really want to get that paper published, it was really good and I was proud of it. . .
anyway the mural was beautiful. not at all what i expected but it's great.

artist's date. . .
so my good buddy tyler posted this song
i totally love it! kiko went out last night and i was mopping and listening to it on my ipod at 11 pm and was dancing and cried a little bit. i'm all about crying, you gotta cry. it was more of a happy cry, kiko tells me i'm a little crazy but aren't we all?! i had a great night. . .
i painted my toe nails. . . gave myself a mini-facial. . . dry brushed. . . cold shower. . . good lotion. . .
then i hung with my friend bethany. . . so happy for her!
then i watched work of art. thank you sjp, the people on the show showed me something about myself! tyler. . . if it gets picked up again i say you and me on the show! totally perfect story for reality TV. we'd learn so much and i wouldn't get mad if you kicked my butt and i got voted off (but i would have a goal to stay at least 5 episodes!) the boys will just have to figure it out for a couple weeks.
then i saw live from abbey road with melody gardot and her story was amazing. bought her album this morning on itunes (along with james morrison)
music is amazing it can change you day, lift your mood, HEAL you! anna of free play shared some music with me for new years and it really helped me through a hard time. i'm so grateful for her sharing and tyler sharing with me. it moved me for sure!
i think i get to go celebrate pride tonight with some friends of mine and looking forward to seeing them!

painting
i've been working on this (from a picture on kootut murut, on this post). the center flower i really felt got screwed up. i painted it one night with not very good light and in the morning was like eek. . . so i cut out a new one, painted it, and it's sort of 3 D now. i'm going to glue it down. i think i'll do some finishing stuff with colored pencil.

mi familia de dio de muerte
i'm not sure if that makes any sense. after seeing all the day of the dead dolls at jose andres restaurant in dc i was inspired. we have a couple of our own. . .

i made this one. i had this wood box that had magnets in it that i saved and though, i should do a day of the dead, but what should i do? my family! what should the back ground be? our house!

kiko's got whiskey in his hand, palmer has a car, and i said, what should i have in my hand and kiko said, "a broom". W O W. . .

e s s a y
i finished my essays for my test tonight. he lets us type them out before class. first was what would michael fried and michael foucault's reaction be to the artist tracy emin. i didn't know her work so i had to look it up"
stupid drunk bitch

my messy bed
then what would guy debord, jiro yoshihara and jean-paul sartre have to say to at a lecture on campus about creativity in the 21st century. man my brain is getting strong!
