i just finished this book, it's a biography of ayaan hirsi ali's life. it was amazing i could barely put it down. it also really shines a light on islam in such a personal way. i am definitely glad we can have an open discussion about religion in this country without fear of our safety and women aren't treated so oppressively, honor killed and excised! how horrible. . . she is an amazing woman, highly suggest it!
i had never really been aware of charley harper before but whole foods has this day timer: i LOVE his pictures. i don't really need a day timer but want to buy this one anyway. . . but should probably get these very cute cards. . . love love love i think this is from the golden book, holy snap i want to find this golden book at a thrift store for 2 bucks! then sell it for $200! geez his art is really inspiring to me. i love the simplicity of line, the bold colors and the emotion. it's such a talent to convey so much with so much simplicity. most people know that editing isn't easy, to be simple can take skill and practice! in all things. tyler's post here discussed both simplicity and capitalism too, free market choice. i love the idea that you vote with every purchase you make (that was at the end of food inc.). it was a real syncronicity to be reminded to actually really think about and plan your purchase. quality not quantity. to buy things that actually add a benefit to your life. he who dies with the most toys does not win because you can't take that with you. having things in your life that increase your joy. greed isn't good but it's hard not to have a lot of very strong feelings associated with money, and it's really hard to look them in the face sometime because there are some pretty horrible feelings. FEAR. WORRY. ENVY. that's a part of the new good life. i'm reading john robbin's book: his story is very interesting, he was the heir to the baskin robbins company and he walked away from it. would you? could you? hmmm. . . he's got drive and courage and is very honest. i find him very inspiring too.
and watched this movie, michael moore can be dramatic but there is a lot of truth in this as well. it gives you some awareness and insight into where our country is now. when the bible says beware of wolves in sheep's clothing, i think it could be talking about guys in suits:
so instead of making a painting for tyler, i was inspired to make a dotee doll (she's in there). i'm ready to send her tyler. . . i need your address because i am an unorganized and didn't write it in my address book. . . like my mess of a "studio". i love the library. . . i can shop and shop and get what ever i want :) i got hundreds of dollars worth of books. i have almost my limit of 5o items checked out right now. a majority are for palmer. . . i love the seasons book, the pictures are amazing. i also got the cat's pajamas. the pictures are great in there too, haven't read the story yet.
did you know (tyler) that animal protein is associated with decreased bone health? a study from 2010 with more than 750 girls, meat and eggs were found to weaken bones. you may want to check out thrive for your future training.
i also am going to partner with peaceful mountain for Whole Foods Wash Parks, grand re-opening on oct 23rd! i'm pretty excited i thought of the idea and i'll get to learn more about peaceful mountains great products!
so, my friend tyler said she wanted to read some books. . . i've been reading a lot recently. #1. i love the library & #2. i canceled cable for now. . .
so i hemmed up these curtains. i bought them a long time ago and one was shorter than the other but i didn't realize it until long after the purchase. so i cut one shorter and added then left over fabric to the other and now they are the same length! they are keeping the hot afternoon sun out! the library has a book sale every year and i took today off of work since i'm sick so i decided to go. this was after the line had moved 1/2 way down the block. it was a mad house. i had time even and couldn't fight with book lovers for that long, but i got a few things. . . this was under maps. . . but it's kind of art, no map attached. it cost a bit more then the $1 for the sale but i had to get it! and i got kiko a couple of leonard cohen books and a few books for palmer (a dr. suess and richard scarry and a trash truck book) and a body psychotherapy book for me. i'm a total nerd. afternoon showers! i like how kiko looks like he has a halo an as a random end, i want these. . . just wanted to have a reminder for myself (and anyone who's planning ahead for my july 31st birthday :) hope you had a great day!
this is clear concise and PERFECT! it only leaves out fasting, but i guess that's the opposite of eating but i think it's a new rule of mine. fasting is really amazing i recommend it.
rule #1. is eat food. (do you know the difference between food and food like substances?)
i have class friday but no final. . . yey! i'm done. . . on to more doing. . .
today i watched the business of being born. i just might have to try it again. . . birthing that is. (i know i can't believe i actually had that urge! biology.)
yesterday i read the road by cormac mccarthy. i read the whole thing. it's VERY good. i think i'll have to pick up his other books. i'm finishing up the little prince which i've never read.
i went to bikram yoga tonight. i love bikram yoga and feel blessed to have been able to go to hot yoga vs. vinyasa flow which is what had been working in my schedule. . . as someone who tends to lean kapha bikram yoga is good for me!
are you on burda style? i want to make this skirt.
